This is a discussion-based course with the goal of creating an environment worthy of constructive civic discourse. Using a scaffolding system of presenting different models of communication and conversation, students discuss topics in various areas such as politics, ethics, sociology, psychology, economics. Students learn from each other and engage in non-competitive debates. Through a form of dialogue called the Tri Method, students gain listening and empathy skills and learn to be productive, collaborative citizens in their communities.
