This course integrates theory and practice for teaching writing PK-12. The course emphasizes relationships between reading and writing, and the wide variety of purposes for writing. Topics include writing development, writing genres, responding to and assessing/evaluating student writing, writing across the curriculum, teaching the writing process, strategies to engage and support writers in literacy intervention contexts, and approaches to collaborating with colleagues to support writers with diverse strengths and needs.
