Overview of the information technologies needed to manage patient information in health care facilities and between health-related organizations. Discusses data structures (including clinical classifications, vocabularies, and terminologies), national/international standards, federal laws/regulations, legal requirements, clinical decision support, data-mining applications, privacy and security, needs of consumers, public health needs, and emerging technologies.
