Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
This course is an online, three-credit hour, modular course that introduces students to the basics of accounting for and reporting on the operations of a small business. Students will be guided through three modules of five weeks in length each. In the first module, students will study the essence of recording transactions and the preparation of financial statements as well as experiencing the use of QuickBooks in a simulated real-life case study. The second five-week module will enhance the student's QuickBooks experience by expanding the case-study to include transactions of a merchandising company where such topics as inventory tracking, sales tax, bad debts, bank reconciliations, and the creation of a budget are explored. In the third five-week module, advanced QuickBooks topics such as tracking profitable operations, billing for time and expenses, customizing forms, preparing a payroll, and exporting forms and reports to customized Excel spreadsheets are experienced.
