This course guides students through the initial planning stages of opportunity recognition and market feasibility for startup business ventures. It explores and develops the required mindset, communication skills, and research techniques needed to transform an idea into a viable business prospect. Topics include identifying a viable business opportunity, formulating the value proposition, identifying and communicating with potential customers, detailing the business model, and performing the research needed to compose a detailed market size estimation and in-depth customer research. Course requirements include a detailed industry and market analysis, customer research using at least two separate methods, and selected portions of a formal business plan and presentation. Prerequisite: BADM 134 or permission of the instructor.
