Foundational material for further studies in computer science. Topics include logic, proofs, sets, functions, relations, recursion, recurrence relations, mathematical induction, graphs, trees, basic counting theory, regular languages, and context free grammars. This course is the same as MTH 191 and course repeat rules will apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
Prerequisites: (CSE 115 or EAS 230 or EAS 240 or EAS 999TRCP) and (Pre-calculus (MTH 115 or ULC 148 or MTH 113 or MTH 114) or appropriate math placement test scores or Co-Requisite of Calculus 1 (MTH 121 or MTH 131 or MTH 141, or MTH 136 or MTH 108).).
