Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
The purpose of the course is to prepare doctoral students for effective teaching in BSW, MSW, and PHD/DSW programs. The course examines the structure and content of social work courses in each of the five curriculum areas: policy, practice, human behavior in the social environment, research, and field education. Students will learn how to develop course syllabi, lectures, assignments, and course evaluations. Students will examine effective teaching techniques, classroom management strategies, and theories of learning and education, as they develop their own teaching philosophies. Students will also explore the nature of higher education in the United States and the role of schools/departments of social work within the academy.
