Language goes beyond basic communication, intersecting with many aspects of our lives and social worlds. This course is an introduction to the way language is studied from an anthropological perspective, and some of the topics anthropologists’ research. These include language change, multilingualism and code choice, politics and language, music, discrimination and racism, identity performance and enactment, and more.
