Learn how DNA and Genetic information is and can be used in law enforcement, the courts, and society. The course assumes no knowledge of genetics, so it will provide the necessary basic genetics background to navigate the course and understand how and why DNA is useful in legal settings. We will review the different kinds of genetic markers used in forensic testing as well as criteria for deciding on a match between people and samples and for measuring relatedness.
