Chemistry 150, offered in summer session II, is a four-credit one-semester ONLINE course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of organic chemistry. This course emphasizes the basic building blocks of general chemistry and how they apply to organic chemistry. This course also bridges the basic building blocks of organic chemistry on basic introduction to functional group approach, with emphasis that cover the properties and reactions of hydrocarbons and their functional groups, aromatic compounds, and biological molecules. FORMAT: The course is an online asynchronous course. The coursework is assignment driven, combining discussion board work, thought experiments and chemistry as well as periodic online meetings with the instructor to provide feedback. REQUIRED MATERIALS: Packback online discussion platform; ALEKS Preparatory Organic Chemistry homework system.
