Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
You may find yourself pondering many questions when you’re alone. Some of these are closely tied to your life, such as: should I conciliate my view in the disagreement with my friend? How can I distinguish dreams from reality? Should we stop eating factory-farmed animals? Others may seem far removed from daily life, such as: Is our universe a product of necessity, chance, or something greater? Why does evil exist in the world? In this course, we will seize these moments of curiosity and seek inspiration from philosophical texts in various branches of contemporary analytic philosophy, such as epistemology, philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and ethics. Drawing from everyday intuitions, we will aim to develop our own philosophical perspectives. Additionally, students will cultivate critical thinking skills and enhance their reading and writing abilities throughout the course.
