This course provides a multi-disciplinary analysis of sustainability. It describes the science of finite resource usage and energy, the complexity of ecosystems, the social science of decisions over time and their implications across generations, and the gaps between self-interest and intergenerational social justice. The course uses global warming as an example of the implications of non-sustainable policies and describes how society can better manage climate and sustainability risk. Students also study principles of the Environment, Societal, and Governance (ESG) paradigm and United Nations initiatives.
