This course provides fundamental experience in English Language Arts (ELA) pedagogy as described by current research and practice. Aligned with New York State ELA Learning Standards, it will focus on building a foundation for the teaching, learning and assessment of reading, writing, listening and speaking at the elementary school level. Particular attention will be paid to praxis, or putting theory and research into practice. (Minimum of 50 hours of clinical experience.) EDU508 and EDR522 can be taken previously or concurrently. Cannot be taken in same semester as EDU5240.
