What is it about laughter that brings us together? Television sitcoms are more than just a string of jokes they can present the viewer with people, places and perspectives that they may not have previously encountered. Sitcoms have facilitated social change in America. LGBTQ+, race, gender, political and economic issues are just a few of the topics that American sitcoms have addressed over the years. Students will explore the history of sitcoms from the 1940s through today and their impact on the viewers.
