Is reform necessary in the criminal legal system? Are some people treated differently than others when they are confronted by law enforcement? Topics focus on crime and the legal system through the lens of racial, social class, sexual orientation and gender identities. Students examine the social construction of law and how it affects race, ethnicity, social class, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity inequalities faced in the United States criminal legal system.
