The second part of a one-year writing sequence, students will create clear, thoughtful prose and perform in-depth critical reading of multi-genre fiction. Students will analyze and interpret the content, style, and structure of imaginative texts through varied literary forms of short fiction, poetry, novels and drama. Students will compose three to five formal essays including close reading; literary analysis, and scholarly critique. One is a documented essay, five to seven typed pages, which students must pass in order to pass the course.
