This course analyzes the role of technology in the Cold War. An analog world emerged from the Second World War, and gradually transformed into a digital, connected globe. How did this affect the compelling ideological struggle of the age, the Cold War? We will discuss and debate the effects of technology on the Cold War, and you will attempt to determine which technological aspect had the greatest impact on its outcome. This is a history course on the science and technology of the Cold War (1945-1991.) This course will cover various technologies, innovations and policies from the United States, the Soviet Union, and their various allies, such as China.
