This course is a chronological survey of American history from the period of Reconstruction to the present. This course examines economic, social, political and cultural institutions as they evolved throughout this period. Topics covered include but are not limited to: Reconstruction; transformation of the west; the Populist and Progressive movements; America's emergence as a global power; the New Deal; the two world wars; the Cold War; the Civil Rights and Women's rights movements.
