This course will introduce students to current research and issues related to teaching mathematics in grades 9-12. The students in this course will learn how to engage high school students in meaningful mathematics and how to work with high school students who are not meeting minimum standards. They will prepare high school students to use mathematics as everyday citizens and to move successfully into programs that require the study of mathematics at the college level. Students in this course will become knowledgeable about the current NYS Learning Standards in Mathematics and the NCTM Standards.
