Elemental Cinema: Film and the Environment is a video production workshop that explores the moving image and its relationship to natural phenomena. Informed by the shifting contemporary climate landscape, the course will study films that study ecology, works that look to geological processes, weather patterns, and elemental forces as source materials. As a landscape is dynamic, constantly changing over time, we will use the tools of time-based media to examine it. Over the course of the winter session, students will develop a series of creative projects that contend with the complexities and intricacies of ecological systems.
