This course is designed to acquaint and apprentice students in the theories, practices, skills, and knowledge(s) of engaging communities through early childhood education. This course is based on a community-university partnership model that aims to strengthen linkages between our local early childhood community and key resources. Using an integrated focus on academics, services, support systems and opportunities, this course will utilize a social action orientation to increase your awareness, skill, knowledge, comfort, and aptitude to help improve child outcomes, strengthen families, and build healthier communities. To that end, this experiential learning course expands current partners within Broome County's Promise Zone initiative, a countywide system of Community schools. your experiences in tis course will be active, challenging, and designed to support you in achieving your pre-professional goals while developing effective strategies for engaging communities through early childhood education.
