Catalog Course Description
Students are introduced to QuickBooks® accounting software, emphasizing the application of accounting principles in a digital environment. Students learn to analyze, record, and manage business transactions, complete a trial balance, and prepare financial statements. Key topics include receivables, payables, inventory management, and payroll processing. By the end of this course, students will be able to apply and interpret essential financial data, evaluate business transactions, and produce accurate financial reports, fostering skills critical for entry-level accounting roles. Prerequisite(s): BUS 1402 Fundamentals of Accounting, OR BUS 1416 Financial Accounting.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1.Accurately record and classify various types of business transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses, within QuickBooks for both service and merchandising businesses.
2. Demonstrate the ability to manage accounts receivable and accounts payable using QuickBooks, including invoicing customers, processing payments, managing vendor bills, and making payments.
3. Demonstrate the ability to complete the full accounting cycle in QuickBooks, from entering initial transactions to preparing financial reports.
4. Generate and analyze key financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) using QuickBooks, and interpret the financial position of a business.
