Catalog Course Description
Students explore in theory and practice the concept that writing can be a restorative tool. Students write and respond to readings on the health and emotional benefits of writing and draft and revise their own work in a variety of genres, including personal narrative, short memoir, and creative writing. Pre-requisite: ENG 1001 Composition I, or permission of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain and apply principles of restorative writing to a variety of genres.
2. Use writing to explore their own history and as a tool for emotional health and self-care.
3. Read, analyze, and respond to each other’s creative works.
4. Practice the process of writing through drafting and workshopping.
