This course centers African folklore - folktales, proverbs, and symbols - as ways to engage African ways of knowing and existing alongside the environment. African ways of telling stories about morality and ethics related to how one protects the earth are found throughout their art and culture. Within this you can find ways of thinking about sustaining a healthy body, community, and physical environment. Sustainability in this course is imagined as a fluid relationship between humans and the earth, and a natural passion and commitment to also build community to care for others.
