In this capstone course, graduate students learn to engage in responsive reading and writing instruction with an emphasis on decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This course involves a capstone practicum experience with both 1:1 tutoring and small group instruction for students in elementary grades where graduate students document and assess students' reading and writing and analyze instructional interactions drawing on theories of reading, writing, and language development. Students engage with families and communities in culturally responsive ways. Graduate students develop communities of practice as responsive literacy coaches to analyze their own and colleagues' instructional language and teaching. Students must receive a B or better in this practicum course to successfully complete the program of study. Prerequisite: Completion of Ltl 546, Ltl 601, and Ltl 623 with a B or better.
