This course is designed to provide students with
the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to
interpret the meaning of education and school in
local, global, international, and intercultural
contexts and address emerging issues from multiple
perspectives. The study of cultural and social
foundations of education is vital and will help
educators to examine and explain education within
differing contexts, the impact of teacher value
orientation and education origins, major
influences, and consequences. This course will
provide preservice educators with knowledge,
skills, and attitudes to be sensitive to
individual and cultural differences and assist
them in becoming effective educators of global
education, and, responsible citizens of the USA
and the world. This course requires a 30 hour
field-based experience in an approved educational
setting.
Prerequisites:
PSY 204, PSY 207, or EDU 182.
