To introduce students to the arts of screenwriting, playwriting, and television scriptwriting by examining theories and examples of cinematic, stage, and small screen storytelling and by employing the building blocks of script crafting in the creation of original scripts. Students will explore screenplays, playwriting, and TV scripts – their similarities and differences – and their inspiration, themes, methods, forms, creation, structure, development, and execution within the framework of the performance industries.
