This course examines contemporary healthcare challenges and health-related quality of life concerns, emphasizing health promotion, risk factors, and healthcare ethics. Students learn to critically evaluate news media and peer-reviewed research, facilitate informed discussions, and engage in civil discourse around current healthcare policies. Through analysis of current events and community issues, students identify a pressing healthcare concern and communicate its significance to local legislators. By the end of the course, students will have developed a deeper understanding of healthcare systems, strengthened their research and communication skills, and participated in civic engagement to promote social justice in healthcare.
