Presents digital media as a means for self-expression and sociopolitical empowerment. Combines a critical understanding of the fundamentals of fiction and nonfiction storytelling (structure, point of view, voice, character, scene, action, dialogue, theme) with an introduction to the basic tools and skills (writing, shooting, editing) needed to produce short-form multimedia content for the internet. Focuses on interactive and multi-platform digital media such as web television and video, podcasting, animation, social media storytelling, interactive journalism, and infographics.
