Virtual Anthropology represents a digital approach to the study of primates, human fossil ancestors and archaeological artifacts. This lab-based course applies digital technologies and computer software packages to examine skeletal remains and archaeological artifacts. Throughout this course, students will have the opportunity to digitize materials using 3D scanning technology, expose and segment internal anatomical structures using medical and high-resolution CT scans, compare and analyze shapes digitally using three-dimensional geometric morphometrics, virtually reconstruct objects, and materialize virtual objects through 3D printing.
