Sketch comedy is an emerging force in cultural discourse in the internet age. This course will examine the role of sketch comedy in a rapidly changing, increasingly critical media landscape. Our culture is continuously searching for new voices to both entertain and enlighten, and sketch is currently the loudest and most perceptive of those voices. Students will watch, analyze and write about sketch comedy and the multitude of ideas and truths it seeks to expose. From Saturday Night Live to Inside Amy Schumer to I Think You Should Leave, sketch comedy is a contemporary foray into the philosophical depths of our world.
