The movement of people is one of the most important phenomena in human history. Culture, language, and politics are all shaped in fundamental ways by migration; this is especially true for the United States. This course will explore the effect of migration on the development and current condition of American politics. It will emphasize the key themes of race, ethnicity, and immigration through primary and secondary source readings, discussion, and independent research.
