This course introduces students to current and future energy delivery systems; extraction, conversion, and end-use of energy will be discussed with the emphasis on meeting 21st Century regional and global energy needs in a sustainable manner. Different renewable and conventional energy technologies will be examined and compared, and their attributes (both positive and negative) will be described within a framework, incorporating the technical, economic, social, political and environmental objectives associated with sustainable energy policies. Case studies of specific applications of sustainable energy to societal needs will be analyzed.
