Building on the foundations of genetics, explore the phenomena that cannot be explained using Mendelian genetics model. The course dissects the central dogma of biology under the light of epigenetics and discusses new concepts that help us understand the complexity of gene expression at every molecular level (DNA, RNA, and protein). Dive deeper in details of regulation of eukaryotic gene expression by means of the DNA packaging, DNA/RNA modification, histone modification, and RNA regulation. The course further explores how these dynamic epigenomic variations affect the working of a cell and play a role in human health (stress, development, etc.) and diseases (various neurological disorders, cancer, etc.). Through current scientific literature review, this course explores how epigenomic disturbances interfere with gene expression and normal workings of cell and thereby lead to disease development
