Early Childhood Education: An Introduction, provides an essential foundation for prospective teachers in early childhood (birth-grade 2) and childhood education (grades 1-6). Students will explore the historical, philosophical, and cultural roots of the field while engaging with contemporary issues shaping education today. Through critical reflection, collaborative learning, and exposure to diverse perspectives, students will begin to develop their own professional identity, educational philosophy, and foundational teaching skills. Emphasis will be placed on equity, inclusion, and the role of educators as change agents in today's schools. Observations of children in educational settings are required, offering students meaningful insight into real-world classroom environments.
