Introduction to Education in a Diverse andInclusive Society, introduces students to thefield of education and invites them to examine thefoundations that shape teaching and learning intoday's diverse society. Students will explore theevolving role of educators in a complex,interconnected world, focusing on how race, class,gender, and other aspects of identity impacteducational experiences and outcomes. Emphasis isplaced on understanding the structures ofprivilege and oppression within education,encouraging students to reflect on their ownexperiences and biases. Through introductory fieldobservations, reflective practice, andcollaborative inquiry, students will begin todevelop their educational philosophy andprofessional identity. Students will complete a5-hour field observation in addition to their coursework.
