ILS 153 introduces students to evidence-basedstrategies, grounded in social and behavioralscience research, for success in college andbeyond. Through active learning and reflection,students explore how the brain learns, how habitsform, and how motivation, focus, and timemanagement impact academic performance. The course emphasizes critical and reflective thinking,information literacy, and the ethical use ofdigital and emerging technologies, including AI.Students refine their ability to communicate withclarity and purpose, analyze ideas and informationfrom multiple perspectives, and apply effectivestrategies for studying, problem-solving, andcollaboration. Whether strengthening academicfoundations or extending advanced skills, theydevelop the confidence, adaptability, andself-awareness needed to achieve their goals andcontribute meaningfully to academic and communitylife.
