You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students

Introduction to contemporary journalism as a major institution in American democracy. This workshop will help students become more informed about the role, ethics and techniques of professional news media practitioners. Students will begin to develop an appreciation for news and for what makes news newsworthy, enabling them to identify what should be reported and written about. They learn the fundamental form of journalistic writing by practicing news writing skills. Students familiarize themselves with journalistic sources and evaluating their reliability. They practice revision and learn about the Associated Press style using AI tools and reference materials. When applicable, students may pitch and/or publish their stories to the campus news outlet.
