Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
In this capstone course students will refine professional soft skills while participating in classroom lectures and simulation software and create job search documents including a professional LinkedIn profile. Résumé preparation and interviewing techniques will also be reviewed. Students participate in discussions and evaluations of their 80-hour Administrative Healthcare Assisting externship rotations that take place in the second half of the semester at an assigned SUNY Erie affiliated medical office or healthcare facility where they will be provided an opportunity to observe and/or perform the administrative skills acquired throughout the duration of the Administrative Healthcare Assisting program in a practical setting. Students cannot be compensated for completion of Practicum hours and will complete training in HIPAA and OSHA compliance Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control as part of their coursework prior to any off-campus participation. Students will also prepare for nationally recognized certification exams through review of core administrative competencies and participating in mock certification exams containing questions commonly asked national exams.
