Health outcomes are determined by more than just standard medical care. This course introduces students to the social and environmental determinants of health, wellness and illness. The theories and empirical evidence in support of population health are critically examined and applied to public health education, practice and policy to promote a healthier society with greater health equity and resilience. Special attention is given to the cultural and geographical differences of various populations.
