This course purports to introduce the roles of financial markets and institutions in the economy and business environment. It also discusses a vast array of risk management concepts and applications in the realm of financial institutions. More specifically, students will learn about the fundamentals of financial institutions (e.g., commercial banks, investment banks, insurance firms, mutual funds) and related risks (e.g., interest rate risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, market risk, foreign exchange risk, capital adequacy).
