Take your class online with SUNY

You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students

This seminar will be an inquiry into foundational readings in curriculum history/ theory and English Language Arts (ELA) Education. We will explore germinal readings in the field and situate them against their historical and curricular backgrounds. Our objectives will be addressed through these guiding questions: 1) How did we arrive at our current state of the field of ELA? 2) Who are foundational authors that inform the theory and practice of ELA? 3) How do these authors and works inform our individual interests in research and teaching? 4) What are ways in which we can respond to these texts?
