This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the philosophical basis of early childhood and elementary education and a historical outline of the field. It prepares future teachers for a variety of roles and professional responsibilities. It also provides an overview of curricular issues such as the goals of education, learning theories, and teaching and assessment strategies. Optional meeting times on Thursdays 5−6 virtually.
