Intended for science majors and non-majors, this course introduces students to the principles of aquatic resources management. Topics covered include: physical, biological, and chemical properties of water. We will be covering the watershed concept in management decisions. Students will learn about the major available freshwater resources in the United States, both surface and groundwater. A section of the course will review marine resources and the history of fisheries management. Course content will cover the management and uses of water in the U.S. for industrial, agricultural and drinking water supplies and the U.S. legislation that govern these uses.
