Students will learn about the various types of human services organizations that serve our community and society at large. Specifically, students will become acquainted with local and regional agencies providing services in and around the local community. This course also introduces students to the many issues involved in delivering social services in a wide range of settings in contemporary society. Topics may include, but are not limited to: themes and purposes in human service, frameworks and models, agency structures and funding, professional roles and duties, intervention strategies, managed care, professional skills development, and ethical considerations.
