This course provides an overview of various engineering approaches to create artificial tissues that could repair or replace damaged or diseased tissues, how biomaterials are designed and manufactured for regenerative medicine applications, as well as the industrialization and commercialization of biomaterials and tissue engineering products. Coverage will include the basics of biomaterials and tissue engineering, the current commercially available products of biomaterials and tissue engineering, the analysis of the biomaterials and tissue engineering market, as well as the commercialization process of the biomaterials and tissue engineering products. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand the principles of biomaterials and tissue engineering, their promise in creating artificial tissues and organs for tissue repair and replacement, and the commercialization process of these products. This is a one-credit, remote asynchronous course, and a part of the dual-purpose full-time MBA concentration and Advanced Graduate Certificate (AGC) in Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Program.
