This course provides an overview of medical instruments and devices for human sensing and human disease diagnosis. Coverage will include biosignals, biosignal detection, wearable technologies, lab equipment, and clinic-based equipment, devices, and tools. Additionally, concepts of device regulation will be covered as will fundamentals of device safety. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify key components of biomedical instrumentation and devices, standards that apply to each, and limitations of each. This course is intended to provide a survey of current topics in Biomedical Instrumentation at a level suitable for non-experts.
