This course addresses the professional role of the nurse as a leader. Students participate in seminars and explore innovative approaches to vision and creativity, change theories, leadership development, promoting excellence in complex care systems and modern leadership models. Students gain an understanding of the social economic and technological forces driving organizational dynamics in healthcare. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making, critical thinking, problem solving, empowerment, and on the development of communications skills essential to working effectively with groups and organizations.
Prerequisites:
MAT161, LIB200, NUR304, NUR327, NUR350, NUR352, NUR353; may be taken concurrently with NUR459.
