Catalog Course Description
Students study current network technologies for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. Students use the LabSim Network Pro comprehensive training program that focuses on networking and related technologies. It covers various topics, including networking fundamentals, network devices, IP addressing, network protocols, security, troubleshooting, and network administration. This course prepares students for industry CompTIA Network+ certification exam. Pre-requisite: CPT 1200 IT Fundamentals or Permission of Instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify various computer hardware based on connectivity and compatibility.
2. Implement and interpret various scenarios using troubleshooting procedures.
3. Compare and contrast different network topologies, protocols ad types.
4. Execute the selection and installation of networking devices to prioritize network traffic, reduce broadcast or collision domains, and separate voice and data traffic.
5. Identify various terms related to networking hardware and protocols.
6. Describe the seven layers of the open systems interconnection (OSI) model.
7. Execute the selection and installation of networking devices to meet networking security requirements.
