Catalog Course Description
This course examines the three segments of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Topics include the extent, measurement, and classification of crime; identification of key personnel and procedures within the criminal justice process; and differences between adult and juvenile justice handling.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain the basic concepts of American criminal justice systems.
2. Analyze reasons for deviant behavior, roles of victims and victimization.
3. Define the rules of police working within the parameters of the 4th Amendment.
4. Understanding the roles of the court and the persons involved.
